Scoring Big on Goodwill: Dave Rees Training Grant

16 Mar,2023

Tactical Solutions offers local youth football team training grant support in remembrance of late colleague, Dave Rees.

This year marks five years since the unexpected passing of our esteemed colleague, Dave Rees. During his time at Tactical Solutions, Dave made significant contributions to our company and offered unwavering support to his colleagues.

Over the years, we’ve had the privilege of getting to know Dave’s family, and we know how much it means to them that we continue to honour his memory.

The Dave Rees Training Grant

The Dave Rees Training Grant Scheme supports individuals looking to enhance their skills and create positive impacts in their communities, just like Dave did.

Each year we invite our colleagues to apply for the ÂŁ500 grant to support their training endeavours. Whether it’s learning a new skill or enhancing their current expertise, we want to support our colleagues in creating positive impacts on those around them.

The grant scheme has previously helped individuals train to become rugby coaches, scout leaders, and develop their professional skills in areas of personal interest, among others. It’s been an excellent way to continue Dave’s legacy and make a real difference in the lives of others.

The year’s recipient

We’re delighted to announce that Mark Friedl, In Store Sales (ISS) Management Executive, is the successful applicant for this years’ grant. As the Club Secretary for local Junior football club, AFC Willenhall, Mark plans to use the grant money to help their coaches achieve extra training to enhance their roles within the club.

Currently, the only mandatory requirement for coaching a team is a valid Football Association DBS check. However, starting next season, an additional qualification will be required, which involves completing a “Safeguarding” course. This comes at an additional cost to each of the 14 coaches at the club, and one that some have expressed concerns around finding the funds to attend, before the May 31st deadline. Additionally, the grant funds will allow the coaches to attend a first aid course, which will benefit them on matchdays, as well as training sessions.

Cathy Evans, Tactical Solutions Managing Director commented: “Dave’s passion for training, football and community involvement created the perfect case for this years Dave Rees Training Grant. We were really impressed by his commitment to inclusivity and growth aspirations for the club locally and are proud that we can help Mark and the club achieve this. We look forward to seeing this investment help grow the club and participation within it”.

Making a difference

With the junior football club expanding to ten team’s next season, the funds provided by the Dave Rees Training Grant means that over 150 players are getting exercise and playing the sport they love every weekend, whilst allowing the club space to explore opportunities for even more kids to play sport in our community.

Mark Friedl, Tactical Solutions ISS Management Executive and AFC Willenhall Club Secretary said: “I cannot express my gratitude enough to Tactical Solutions and the Dave Rees Training Grant for their generous support. The grant will go such a long way in ensuring that our coaches are adequately trained and equipped to provide quality coaching to our junior football teams. It will undoubtedly help our Club to continue to grow and provide many more opportunities for kids to get involved in this fantastic club, not just this season, but for many more to come”.

Following our recent B Corp accreditation, The Dave Rees Training Scheme is just one of the initiatives that Tactical Solutions is involved in that helps support not just its employees, but the communities that are around us.
